The Secret of the Locust Plague
סוד מכת הארבה
א. « Bo » et non « Lekh » — Une énigme
La Paracha commence par ces mots :
« וַיֹּאמֶר ה׳ אֶל מֹשֶׁה בֹּא אֶל פַּרְעֹה »
« Hachem dit à Moché : Viens vers Pharaon »
Question : Pourquoi « Bo » (בֹּא — viens) et non « Lekh » (לֵךְ — va) ?
On dit « Bo » quand on veut que quelqu'un vienne vers nous, pas quand on l'envoie accomplir une mission ailleurs !
De plus, Hachem explique ici pourquoi Il inflige ces plaies :
« כִּי אֲנִי הִכְבַּדְתִּי אֶת לִבּוֹ... לְמַעַן שִׁתִי אֹתֹתַי אֵלֶּה בְּקִרְבּוֹ »
« Car J'ai endurci son cœur... afin que Je place Mes signes en son sein »
Autre question : Le mot « אֹתֹתַי » (ototaï — Mes signes) apparaît ici pour la première fois. Pourquoi spécifiquement à la plaie des sauterelles et pas dès la plaie du sang ?
ב. Le Zohar : Le combat contre le Tanin Hagadol
Le Zohar (Paracha Bo) explique :
« מַה כְּתִיב בֹּא אֶל פַּרְעֹה, לֵךְ אֶל פַּרְעֹה מִבָּעֵי לֵיהּ » — Il aurait dû être écrit « Va vers Pharaon », pas « Viens » !
Le Zohar révèle qu'Hachem emmène Moché à travers les mondes spirituels, monde après monde, jusqu'à atteindre la racine céleste de Pharaon.
Car chaque nation a son « Sar » (prince céleste) :
Il y a 70 nations et 70 princes célestes qui les dirigent. Qui est le prince d'Israël ? L'ange Mikhaël.
Face au Pharaon terrestre, il existe une racine spirituelle dans les mondes supérieurs.
Et qui est cette racine de Pharaon ?
« לְגַבֵּי תַּנִּין אֶחָד הָעִלָּאָה דְּשַׁלְטָא »
Le Tanin Hagadol — le Grand Serpent
ג. Le Tanin — C'est le Nakhash
Dans la langue de la Torah, « Tanin » signifie « serpent » (Nakhash), et non crocodile comme on pourrait le penser.
Preuve : Dans la Paracha précédente, Hachem dit à Moché : « Que tiens-tu dans ta main ? » — un bâton. Il le jette et il devient un Tanin. Puis Il lui dit : « Prends le Nakhash (serpent) par la queue. »
Tanin et Nakhash sont donc synonymes !
Les « Taninim Hagdolim » mentionnés dans Béréchit désignent deux serpents primordiaux : le Nakhash Bariakh et le Nakhash Akalton.
Le Tanin Hagadol représente le serpent primordial, le Sitra A'hra (l'Autre Côté), la source de tout mal depuis le péché d'Adam.
ד. Pourquoi Moché avait-il peur ?
Moché avait le courage d'affronter les ministres de Pharaon, mais il craignait d'affronter le Tanin Hagadol lui-même !
Le Zohar dit : « דַּחֲזָא מֹשֶׁה דָּחִיל מִנֵּיהּ » — Moché vit [le Tanin] et eut peur de lui.
C'est pourquoi Hachem lui dit : « BO » — « VIENS avec Moi ».
« Ne t'inquiète pas, Je suis avec toi ! »
Hachem prend Moché par la main, en quelque sorte, et l'accompagne pour affronter ensemble le Tanin Hagadol.
ה. Pharaon = Oref Hé (עֹרֶף ה׳)
Pour comprendre la peur de Moché, il faut savoir où se situe Pharaon par rapport à lui.
L'être humain est construit comme les 10 Sefirot :
Moché Rabbénou a sa racine dans la Daat (le cervelet, à l'arrière de la tête). C'est lui qui nous donne la « Daat Torah ».
Et Pharaon ?
Le mot פַּרְעֹה (Pharaon) est l'anagramme de עֹרֶף ה׳ (Oref Hé) — la nuque du Hé !
Le Hé (ה׳) représente la Chekhina. Pharaon est donc le Sitra A'hra de la Chekhina, situé exactement à l'opposé de Moché — à l'extérieur, dans la nuque.
Moché craignait que ce serpent, le Sitra A'hra, ne le « morde » spirituellement.
ו. Le code secret : de פַּרְעֹה à אַרְבֶּה
Hachem rassure Moché : « Nous allons reprogrammer le panneau de contrôle de Pharaon ! »
Le mot פַּרְעֹה est composé de 4 lettres : פ - ר - ע - ה. C'est comme un « code » qu'il faut modifier.
Le Talmud (Berakhot 32a) mentionne une famille qui intervertissait certaines lettres dans leur prononciation :
• Le פ (Pé) et le ב (Beth) sont interchangeables
• Le ע (Ayin) et le א (Alef) sont interchangeables
Maintenant, comprenons le verset :
« לְמַעַן שִׁתִי אֹתֹתַי אֵלֶּה בְּקִרְבּוֹ »
« Afin que Je place Mes Otot (lettres/signes) en son sein »
Le mot אֹתֹתַי peut se lire « Ot Otaï » — deux lettres ! Celles du mot « בֹּא » : le ב et le א !

Pharaon devient Arbé — la plaie des Sauterelles !
Voilà pourquoi le mot « אֹתֹתַי » apparaît spécifiquement ici, à la plaie des sauterelles : c'est ici que le « code » de Pharaon est reprogrammé avec les lettres ב et א !
ז. La guematria confirme : Arbé = 208
Moché a averti Pharaon huit fois : « Envoie Mon peuple ! » Arbé (la sauterelle) est la 8ème plaie.

Le Nom de Hachem (יהוה) = 26
26 × 8 = 208
אַרְבֶּה = ?
א (1) + ר (200) + ב (2) + ה (5) = 208
Arbé (208) = 8 fois le Nom d'Hachem !
ח. Le renfort de Yitshak Avinou
Pour soumettre Pharaon et exécuter le jugement, Hachem fait appel à un renfort spécial.
• Avraham ? Non — il représente le Hessed (bonté)
• Yaakov ? Non — il représente la Tiféret (miséricorde)
Il faut Yitshak ! Il représente la Guevoura (rigueur/force) — lui qui, à 37 ans, a eu le courage d'accepter la Akéda !
יִצְחָק = ?
י (10) + צ (90) + ח (8) + ק (100) = 208
Yitshak (208) = Arbé (208) = 8 × Hachem (26)
Tout s'aligne ! La force de Yitshak est mobilisée pour soumettre Pharaon.
ט. Les Tefilin : soumettre Pharaon chaque jour
Nous posons les Tefilin du Roch et leur nœud se trouve exactement... sur la nuque !
Pourquoi à la nuque ?
Parce que c'est là que se trouve Pharaon — le Oref Hé (עֹרֶף ה׳), le Sitra A'hra !
En posant le nœud des Tefilin sur la nuque, nous soumettons Pharaon quotidiennement !
Au réveil, les « confusions de Pharaon » brouillent notre pensée. Dès qu'on pose les Tefilin, cela ordonne notre Daat et nous ouvre à recevoir la sainteté.
י. L'os Louz et la Résurrection des Morts
Une question a été posée : Quel est le lien entre les Tefilin et l'os Louz, cet os indestructible à partir duquel commencera la résurrection des morts ?
Réponse : L'os Louz se trouve précisément dans la nuque, là où réside Pharaon — le Tanin Hagadol qui symbolise le Nakhash (serpent).
Ce même serpent du Gan Éden a fait fauter 'Hava, et de cette faute est venue la mort dans le monde.
Il est donc logique que la résurrection des morts provienne du même endroit où le serpent a causé le dommage — la nuque.
En posant les Tefilin sur la nuque :
• Nous soumettons Pharaon
• Nous rapprochons la Guéoula
• Et nous hâtons la résurrection des morts !

א. "Bo" and not "Lekh" — A Puzzle
The Paracha begins with these words:
"וַיֹּאמֶר ה׳ אֶל מֹשֶׁה בֹּא אֶל פַּרְעֹה"
"Hashem said to Moshe: Come to Pharaoh"
Question: Why "Bo" (בֹּא — come) and not "Lekh" (לֵךְ — go)?
We say "Bo" when we want someone to come towards us, not when sending them on a mission elsewhere!
Furthermore, Hashem explains here why He inflicts these plagues:
"כִּי אֲנִי הִכְבַּדְתִּי אֶת לִבּוֹ... לְמַעַן שִׁתִי אֹתֹתַי אֵלֶּה בְּקִרְבּוֹ"
"For I have hardened his heart... so that I may place My signs within him"
Another question: The word "אֹתֹתַי" (ototai — My signs) appears here for the first time. Why specifically at the plague of locusts?
ב. The Zohar: The Battle Against the Tanin Hagadol
The Zohar (Parashat Bo) explains:
"מַה כְּתִיב בֹּא אֶל פַּרְעֹה, לֵךְ אֶל פַּרְעֹה מִבָּעֵי לֵיהּ" — It should have been written "Go to Pharaoh," not "Come"!
The Zohar reveals that Hashem takes Moshe through the spiritual worlds, world after world, until reaching Pharaoh's celestial root.
For every nation has its "Sar" (celestial prince):
There are 70 nations and 70 celestial princes who govern them. Who is Israel's prince? The angel Michael.
And who is this root of Pharaoh?
"לְגַבֵּי תַּנִּין אֶחָד הָעִלָּאָה דְּשַׁלְטָא"
The Tanin Hagadol — the Great Serpent
ג. The Tanin — It's the Nachash
In the language of the Torah, "Tanin" means "serpent" (Nachash), not crocodile.
Proof: In the previous Paracha, Hashem asks Moshe: "What is in your hand?" — a staff. He throws it and it becomes a Tanin. Then He tells him: "Grab the Nachash by its tail."
Tanin and Nachash are therefore synonymous!
The Tanin Hagadol represents the primordial serpent, the Sitra Achra (the Other Side), the source of all evil since Adam's sin.
ד. Why Was Moshe Afraid?
Moshe had the courage to face Pharaoh's ministers, but he feared confronting the Tanin Hagadol himself!
The Zohar says: "דַּחֲזָא מֹשֶׁה דָּחִיל מִנֵּיהּ" — Moshe saw [the Tanin] and was afraid of him.
That's why Hashem told him: "BO" — "COME with Me".
"Don't worry, I am with you!"
Hashem takes Moshe by the hand and accompanies him to face the Tanin Hagadol together.
ה. Pharaoh = Oref Hé (עֹרֶף ה׳)
The human being is built like the 10 Sefirot:
Moshe Rabbeinu has his root in the Da'at (the cerebellum, at the back of the head).
And Pharaoh?
The word פַּרְעֹה (Pharaoh) is an anagram of עֹרֶף ה׳ (Oref Hé) — the nape of the Hé!
The Hé (ה׳) represents the Shechinah. Pharaoh is therefore the Sitra Achra of the Shechinah, located in the nape.
ו. The Secret Code: From פַּרְעֹה to אַרְבֶּה
Hashem reassures Moshe: "We're going to reprogram Pharaoh's control panel!"
The Talmud (Berachot 32a) mentions a family that would interchange certain letters:
• The פ (Pé) and the ב (Bet) are interchangeable
• The ע (Ayin) and the א (Alef) are interchangeable
"לְמַעַן שִׁתִי אֹתֹתַי אֵלֶּה בְּקִרְבּוֹ"
"So that I may place My Otot (letters/signs) within him"
The word אֹתֹתַי can be read as "Ot Otai" — two letters: the ב and the א from "בֹּא"!

Arbeh (208) = 8 times the Name of Hashem!
ח. Yitzchak Avinu's Reinforcement
• Avraham? No — he represents Chesed (kindness)
• Yaakov? No — he represents Tiferet (mercy)
We need Yitzchak! He represents Gevurah (strength/rigor)!

Yitzchak (208) = Arbeh (208) = 8 × Hashem (26)
ט. Tefillin: Subduing Pharaoh Every Day
We place the Tefillin shel Rosh and their knot is located exactly... on the nape!
Why at the nape?
Because that's where Pharaoh is located — the Oref Hé (עֹרֶף ה׳), the Sitra Achra!
By placing the Tefillin knot on the nape, we subdue Pharaoh daily!
As soon as we put on the Tefillin, it orders our Da'at (thought) and opens us to receive the holiness present in the world.
י. The Luz Bone and the Resurrection of the Dead
What is the connection between the Tefillin and the Luz bone, that indestructible bone from which the resurrection of the dead will begin?
Answer: The Luz bone is located precisely in the nape, where Pharaoh resides — the Tanin Hagadol who symbolizes the Nachash (serpent).
This same serpent from Gan Eden caused Chava to sin, and from this sin came death into the world.
By placing the Tefillin on the nape:
• We subdue Pharaoh • We bring the Geulah closer • We hasten the resurrection!

הפרשה פותחת במילים:
« וַיֹּאמֶר ה׳ אֶל מֹשֶׁה בֹּא אֶל פַּרְעֹה »
שאלה: למה « בֹּא » ולא « לֵךְ »?
אומרים « בֹּא » כשרוצים שמישהו יבוא אלינו, לא כשמשלחים אותו לבצע משימה במקום אחר!
« כִּי אֲנִי הִכְבַּדְתִּי אֶת לִבּוֹ... לְמַעַן שִׁתִי אֹתֹתַי אֵלֶּה בְּקִרְבּוֹ »
שאלה נוספת: המילה « אֹתֹתַי » מופיעה כאן לראשונה. למה דווקא במכת ארבה?
ב. הזוהר: המלחמה נגד התנין הגדול
הזוהר (פרשת בא) מסביר:
« מַה כְּתִיב בֹּא אֶל פַּרְעֹה, לֵךְ אֶל פַּרְעֹה מִבָּעֵי לֵיהּ »
הזוהר מגלה שהקב״ה לוקח את משה דרך העולמות הרוחניים, עולם אחר עולם, עד שהוא מגיע לשורש השמימי של פרעה.
כי לכל אומה יש « שַׂר » (שר שמימי):
יש 70 אומות ו-70 שרים בשמיים. מי השר של ישראל? המלאך מיכאל.
« לְגַבֵּי תַּנִּין אֶחָד הָעִלָּאָה דְּשַׁלְטָא »
התנין הגדול — הנחש הגדול
ג. התנין — זה הנחש
בלשון התורה, « תנין » פירושו « נחש », ולא קרוקודיל.
הוכחה: בפרשה הקודמת, הקב״ה שואל את משה: « מַה זֶּה בְיָדֶךָ? » — מטה. הוא זורק אותו והוא הופך לתנין. אחר כך הוא אומר לו: « קַח אֶת הַנָּחָשׁ בִּזְנָבוֹ. »
תנין ונחש הם אפוא מילים נרדפות!
התנין הגדול מייצג את הנחש הקדמוני, את הסיטרא אחרא, את מקור כל הרע מאז חטא אדם הראשון.
ד. למה משה פחד?
למשה היה אומץ להתמודד עם שרי פרעה, אבל הוא פחד להתמודד עם התנין הגדול עצמו!
הזוהר אומר: « דַּחֲזָא מֹשֶׁה דָּחִיל מִנֵּיהּ » — משה ראה [את התנין] ופחד ממנו.
לכן הקב״ה אמר לו: « בֹּא » — « בֹּא איתי ».
« אל תדאג, אני איתך! »
הקב״ה לוקח את משה ביד, כביכול, ומלווה אותו להתמודד יחד עם התנין הגדול.
ה. פרעה = עֹרֶף ה׳
האדם בנוי כמו עשר ספירות:
משה רבנו שורשו בדעת (המוח הקטן, בחלק האחורי של הראש).
ופרעה?
המילה פַּרְעֹה היא אנגרמה של עֹרֶף ה׳ — העורף של ה׳!
ה׳ מייצג את השכינה. פרעה הוא הסיטרא אחרא של השכינה, הממוקם בעורף.
ו. הקוד הסודי: מ-פַּרְעֹה ל-אַרְבֶּה
הקב״ה מרגיע את משה: « אנחנו הולכים לתכנת מחדש את לוח הפיקוד של פרעה! »
התלמוד (ברכות ל״ב ע״א) מזכיר משפחה שהייתה מחליפה אותיות מסוימות בהגייתם:
• הפ״א והב״ית מתחלפות
• הע״ין והא״לף מתחלפות
« לְמַעַן שִׁתִי אֹתֹתַי אֵלֶּה בְּקִרְבּוֹ »
« למען אשים את אותותיי (אותיות/אותות) בקרבו »
המילה אֹתֹתַי יכולה להיקרא « אוֹת אֹתַי » — שתי אותיות! אלה של המילה « בֹּא »: הב״ית והא״לף!

פרעה הופך לארבה — מכת הארבה!

ט. התפילין: להכניע את פרעה כל יום
אנחנו מניחים את תפילין של ראש והקשר שלהם נמצא בדיוק... בעורף!
למה בעורף?
כי שם נמצא פרעה — עֹרֶף ה׳, הסיטרא אחרא!
בהנחת קשר התפילין על העורף, אנחנו מכניעים את פרעה כל יום!
ברגע שמניחים תפילין, זה מסדר את הדעת ופותח אותנו לקבל את הקדושה שבעולם.
י. עצם הלוז ותחיית המתים
מה הקשר בין התפילין לעצם הלוז, אותה עצם בלתי ניתנת להריסה שממנה תתחיל תחיית המתים?
תשובה: עצם הלוז נמצאת בדיוק בעורף, שם שוכן פרעה — התנין הגדול המסמל את הנחש.
אותו נחש מגן עדן גרם לחוה לחטוא, ומחטא זה באה המוות לעולם.
בהנחת התפילין על העורף:
• אנחנו מכניעים את פרעה • אנחנו מקרבים את הגאולה • אנחנו ממהרים את תחיית המתים!
