שורש מלך המשיח
בלק בן ציפור | רות המואביה | עולם חסד יבנה
וְרָאָהוּ וְלֹא עַתָּה, אֲשׁוּרֶנּוּ וְלֹא קָרוֹב — דָּרַךְ כּוֹכָב מִיַּעֲקֹב במדבר כד:יז
מדוע נקראת הפרשה על שמו של בלק, המלך הרשע שניסה לקלל את ישראל? איך ממנו יוצא שושלת דוד המלך ומלך המשיח? ומה הקשר בין לוט, כנסת האורחים, ורות המואביה?
א בועז ורות — השאלה ההלכתית
בועז אמר לרות שיבדוק את העניין ויראה איך מתקדמים. מה בדק? המדרש אומר שהוא הלך לבדוק אם הוא יכול להתחתן איתה — כי כתוב בתורה במפורש:
לֹא יָבֹא עַמּוֹנִי וּמוֹאָבִי בִּקְהַל ה', גַּם דּוֹר עֲשִׂירִי לֹא יָבֹא לָהֶם בִּקְהַל ה' עַד עוֹלָם דברים כג:ד
חכמים דרשו: כתוב "לא יבוא עמוני ומואבי" — בלשון זכר. אבל לא כתוב "המואביה". ומה ההבדל?
הסיבה לאיסור: "על דבר אשר לא קידמו אתכם בלחם ובמים" — אבל חכמים אומרים: "דרכו של איש לקדם בלחם ובמים, ואין דרכה של אשה." הנשים לא היו מחויבות בדבר — לכן רות, שהיא אשה מואביה, מותרת בנישואין.
ב לוט — השורש הקדום
כדי להבין את שורש מלך המשיח, צריך לחזור עוד יותר אחורה — עד לוט, בן אחי אברהם.
לוט הלך עם אברהם לארץ, ירד איתו למצרים, חזר לארץ. אבל כשרכושם גדל ולא יכלו לשבת יחדיו, נפרדו — ולוט בחר בסדום.
הזוהר הקדוש שואל: מה משמעות השם "לוט"? בארמית "לטקיה" = קללה. כל עוד שלוט היה עם אברהם, הדיבור האלוקי לא נגלה לאברהם. רק אחרי שנפרדו:
וַה' אָמַר אֶל-אַבְרָם אַחֲרֵי הִפָּרֶד לוֹט מֵעִמּוֹ בראשית יג:יד
כשארבעת המלכים לכדו את לוט, מדוע יצא אברהם להילחם בשביל אדם שלכאורה לא שווה כלום? האור החיים הקדוש מסביר: "ויקחו את לוט בן אחי אברם" — הם לקחוהו כי הוא דמה לאברהם עצמו, ורצו להתפאר שתפסו את אברהם בשבי.
⭐ כשאדם נתלה, אומרת התורה "קללת אלוקים תלוי" — כי האדם הוא צלם אלוקים (רש"י: משל לשני תאומים, אחד שר ואחד נתפס). אברהם אמר: "אתם חושבים שתפסתם אותי? את צלם אלוקים? אני הולך להילחם ולהציל את לוט — כי הוא אני."
אבל יש פירוש עמוק יותר: אברהם ראה ברוח הקודש שמלוט יצאו שתי בנות, ומהן — שרשרת שתוביל אל מלך המשיח.
ג שתי בנות לוט — לידת מואב ועמון
אחרי הפיכת סדום, בנות לוט חשבו שאין עוד אנשים בארץ. הבכורה נקטה בצעד קיצוני — שתתה יין עם אביה, שכבה איתו.
הבכורה ילדה בן וקראה לו מואב — "מאב" — בחוצפה גלויה שמספרת את הסיפור. הצעירה הייתה צנועה יותר וקראה לבנה בן עמי.
⭐ מאיפה היה להם יין במערה? המדרש אומר: נח, אחרי התיבה, הכין בקבוק ושמו במערה ההיא — וחיכה שם עד בנות לוט. הכל השגחה.
שרשרת הגאולה
לוט ← מואב ← בלק בן ציפור ← עגלון ← רות ← דוד המלך ← מלך המשיח
ד בלק בן ציפור — למה הפרשה על שמו?
בלק ניסה לקלל את ישראל — ולמרות זאת הפרשה נקראת על שמו! מפני שמבלק עתיד לצאת בן ציפור, ממנו יצא עגלון, ממנו תצא רות, ממנה דוד, וממנו משיח.
אבל קשה: המואבים לא רק שלא קידמו בלחם ובמים — הם גם הכשילו את ישראל בבעל פעור! איך אפשר לבנות משיח מזה?
התשובה: עולם חסד יבנה (תהילים פט:ג). כל הקיום של העולם מושתת על החסד. התורה — תחילתה חסד (הפריד חוה מאדם) וסופה חסד (קבורת משה). לוט למד מאברהם את מידת הכנסת האורחים — וזה השריד הטוב שנשאר בו ועבר לצאצאיו.
⭐ בספר דברים כועסים על המואבים: "על אשר לא קידמו אתכם בלחם ובמים" — אתם יודעים מי הציל אתכם? אברהם אבינו! הוא לימד את לוט כנסת אורחים, ולוט העביר את זה. ואתם — שמעתם את זה ובכל זאת לא קידמתם. לכן "לא יבוא עמוני ומואבי." אבל הבנות? הן בתוך לבן הרגישו שצריכות לקדם — ורות הוכיחה זאת.
ה רות — גילום החסד
כל מה שמסופר במגילת רות הוא חסד, חסד וחסד — שעשתה רות עם נעמי. בגלל החסד הזה היא זכתה לבנות את שושלת דוד.
רות קלטה את מה שלוט קיבל מאברהם — ויישמה אותו בשלמות. היא המואביה שזכתה לייצג את כל מה שטוב בחסד שאברהם נתן לעולם.
הגמרא שואלת: "מה יעשה אדם וינצל מחבלי של משיח?" — שני דברים: גמילות חסדים ותלמוד תורה. הנה העולם כולו מושתת על חסד.

The Root of Mashiach
Balak ben Tzipor | Ruth the Moabite | The World is Built on Kindness
"A star shall come forth from Yaakov, and a scepter shall arise from Israel" — Bamidbar 24:17
Why is this Parasha named after Balak, the wicked king who tried to curse Israel? How does the lineage of King David and Mashiach emerge from him? And what is the connection between Lot, hospitality, and Ruth the Moabite?
1 Boaz and Ruth — The Halachic Question
Boaz told Ruth he would investigate the matter. What was he checking? The Midrash says he went to determine whether he could marry her — because the Torah states explicitly:
"No Ammonite or Moabite may enter the congregation of God — even to the tenth generation, forever" — Devarim 23:4
The Sages derived: the verse says "Ammonite and Moabite" — masculine form. It does NOT say "Moabitess."
The reason for the prohibition: "because they did not meet you with bread and water." But the Sages rule: "It is the way of a man to come forward with bread and water — not the way of a woman." Women were not obligated in this hospitality. Therefore Ruth, a Moabite woman, is permitted to marry into Israel.
2 Lot — The Ancient Root
To understand the root of Mashiach, we must go further back — to Lot, nephew of Avraham. Lot traveled with Avraham, descended to Egypt, and returned to Canaan. When their wealth grew too large for them to dwell together, they separated — and Lot chose Sodom.
The Zohar asks: what does "Lot" mean? In Aramaic, "lotkiya" means curse. As long as Lot was with Avraham, divine speech was not revealed to Avraham. Only after they separated: "And God said to Avram AFTER Lot had separated from him."
When four kings captured Lot, why did Avraham go to war for someone who seems worthless? The Ohr HaChaim explains: they took Lot "the nephew of Avram" — because he resembled Avraham exactly, and they wanted to boast to the world that they had captured Avraham. Avraham declared: "You think you captured me? The image of God? I am going to war."
⭐ A hanging criminal's body must not remain on the tree — because "the hanged is a curse to God" (Rashi: twins — one became a minister, the other was hanged; all who see him say "look, it's the minister"). Since man is the image of God, leaving the image hanging is as if desecrating the Divine. This is why Avraham fought for Lot — Lot was his image.
3 The Chain of Redemption
After the destruction of Sodom, Lot's daughters thought no men remained on earth. The elder acted — she gave her father wine and lay with him. She bore a son named Moav — brazenly declaring "from my father." The younger was more modest and named her son Ben Ami.
⭐ Where did they get wine in the cave? The Midrash says: Noach, after the Ark, prepared a bottle and hid it in that very cave — waiting for Lot's daughters. Everything is Providence.

4 The World is Built on Chesed
Balak tried to curse Israel — yet the Parasha bears his name, because from him descends the lineage of Mashiach. But how can Mashiach come from Moav when the Moabites seduced Israel to Baal Peor?
"Olam Chesed Yibaneh" — The world is built on Kindness (Psalms 89:3). The Torah begins with kindness (God separated Eve for Adam) and ends with kindness (burying Moshe).
Lot learned Hachnasat Orchim (hospitality) from Avraham. That one trait survived through generations. Ruth embodied it completely — every act in the Book of Ruth is Chesed upon Chesed toward Naomi.
The Talmud asks: "What should a person do to be saved from the birth pangs of Mashiach?" — Two things: acts of kindness and Torah study.

La Racine du Mashia'h
Balak ben Tsipor | Ruth la Moabite | Le monde est bâti sur la Bonté
"Une étoile surgira de Yaakov, un sceptre s'élèvera d'Israël" — Bamidbar 24:17
Pourquoi cette Paracha porte-t-elle le nom de Balak, le roi impie qui tenta de maudire Israël ? Comment de lui descend la lignée de David et du Mashia'h ? Et quel est le lien entre Loth, l'hospitalité et Ruth la Moabite ?
1 Boaz et Ruth — La Question Halakhique
Boaz dit à Ruth qu'il allait vérifier la situation. Que vérifia-t-il ? Le Midrach dit qu'il alla s'assurer s'il pouvait l'épouser — car la Torah précise :
"Nul Ammonite ni Moabite n'entrera dans l'assemblée de l'Éternel — même à la dixième génération, à jamais" — Devarim 23:4
Les Sages ont dérivé : le verset dit "Ammonite et Moabite" — au masculin. Il ne dit PAS "Moabite" au féminin.
La raison de l'interdiction : "parce qu'ils ne vous ont pas accueillis avec pain et eau." Mais les Sages règlent : "C'est la voie de l'homme d'aller au-devant avec du pain et de l'eau — pas la voie de la femme." Les femmes n'étaient pas obligées par cette hospitalité. Ruth, femme moabite, est donc autorisée à se marier en Israël.
2 Loth — La Racine Ancienne
Pour comprendre la racine du Mashia'h, il faut remonter jusqu'à Loth, neveu d'Avraham. Loth voyagea avec Avraham, descendit en Égypte, revint à Canaan. Quand leur richesse devint trop grande pour habiter ensemble, ils se séparèrent — et Loth choisit Sodome.
Le Zohar demande : que signifie "Loth" ? En araméen, "lotkiya" signifie malédiction. Tant que Loth était avec Avraham, la parole divine ne se révélait pas à Avraham. Seulement après la séparation : "Et Dieu dit à Avram APRÈS que Loth se fut séparé de lui."
Quand quatre rois capturèrent Loth, pourquoi Avraham alla-t-il combattre pour lui ? L'Ohr HaChaïm explique : ils avaient pris Loth "le neveu d'Avram" — parce qu'il lui ressemblait exactement. Avraham déclara : "Vous pensez m'avoir capturé ? L'image de Dieu ? Je pars au combat."

3 Le Monde est Bâti sur la Bonté
Balak tenta de maudire Israël — et pourtant la Paracha porte son nom, car de lui descend la lignée du Mashia'h. Mais comment le Mashia'h peut-il venir de Moav dont les femmes ont séduit Israël vers le Baal Peor ?
"Olam Chesed Yibaneh" — Le monde est bâti sur la Bonté (Psaumes 89:3). La Torah commence par la bonté et finit par la bonté.
Loth apprit l'hospitalité d'Avraham. Ce trait unique survécut à travers les générations. Ruth l'incarna parfaitement — chaque acte du Livre de Ruth est Chesed sur Chesed envers Naomi.
Le Talmud demande : "Que doit faire quelqu'un pour être sauvé des douleurs de l'enfantement du Mashia'h ?" — Deux choses : faire le bien et étudier la Torah.
