Le Secret de l'Humilité et la Traversée de la Mer
א. Le Verset d'Ouverture
« Et il arriva, lorsque Pharaon laissa partir le peuple, que D.ieu ne les conduisit pas par le chemin du pays des Philistins, car il était proche. »
Pharaon a traversé six étapes avant d'accepter de laisser partir le peuple d'Israël. Au début, quand Moché et Aharon sont venus lui demander de libérer le peuple, il a répondu avec arrogance : « Qui est Hachem pour que j'écoute Sa voix ? »
ב. L'Humilité des Justes vs l'Arrogance des Méchants
La caractéristique principale des méchants est que leur bouche est large ouverte et leur cœur est gonflé d'orgueil. À l'inverse, les sages d'Israël étaient d'une humilité exemplaire.
Moché & Aharon : « Et nous, que sommes-nous ? » (וְנַחְנוּ מָה)
Avraham Avinou : « Et moi, je ne suis que poussière et cendre » (וְאָנֹכִי עָפָר וָאֵפֶר)
David HaMelekh : « Et moi, je suis un ver et non un homme » (וְאָנֹכִי תוֹלַעַת וְלֹא אִישׁ)
Pharaon : « Qui est Hachem ? Je ne connais pas Hachem ! » (מִי ה׳ לֹא יָדַעְתִּי אֶת ה׳)
Hiram roi de Tyr : « Je monterai sur les hauteurs des nuages, je serai semblable au Très-Haut ! »
Le Principe : HaKadosh Baroukh Hou dit (Houlin 89a) : « Ce qui Me plaît en vous, c'est que toute grandeur que Je vous donne, vous vous abaissez devant Moi. »
ג. David HaMelekh : Le Roi Humble
David HaMelekh, qui était un grand conquérant sur lequel résidait la Shékhina, et qui est destiné à être le Mashia'h, que disait-il de lui-même ?
וְאָנֹכִי תוֹלַעַת וְלֹא אִישׁ חֶרְפַּת אָדָם וּבְזוּי עָם
« Et moi, je suis un ver et non un homme, la honte des hommes et le méprisé du peuple »
Il s'asseyait aux pieds de ses maîtres pour apprendre la Torah. Lui, le roi d'Israël, s'humiliait pour les paroles de Torah !
« Quiconque s'humilie pour les paroles de Torah, HaKadosh Baroukh Hou l'élève. »
ד. « Pana Ziva, Pana Hoda, Pana Hadara »
Nos Sages enseignent : « Quand un tsadik quitte une ville, son éclat part, sa splendeur part, sa majesté part. »
Quand Yaakov Avinou a quitté Beer Sheva, Rachi explique : « Pana ziva, pana hoda, pana hadara » — l'éclat, la splendeur et la majesté de la ville sont partis avec lui.
Mais ici, ce n'est pas un seul tsadik qui quitte — c'est tout le peuple d'Israël ! Tous les tsadikim, les Léviim qui étudiaient la Torah, Moché Rabbénou qui marchait dans les rues d'Alexandrie...
Quand Israël est sorti d'Égypte, les Égyptiens ont crié : « Qu'avons-nous fait en renvoyant Israël de nous servir ? » (מַה זֹּאת עָשִׂינוּ כִּי שִׁלַּחְנוּ אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל)
L'Égypte sans le peuple d'Israël ne valait plus rien !
ה. La Leçon de l'Espagne — 1492
C'est exactement ce qui s'est passé en 1492 avec la reine Isabelle d'Espagne.
Elle a reçu un message d'un prêtre lui disant qu'elle serait maudite si elle laissait des Juifs dans son royaume. Elle leur a donné un ultimatum : se convertir ou partir en laissant tous leurs biens.
Don Isaac Abravanel, le ministre des finances du roi du Portugal, un homme d'une intégrité totale qui ne touchait jamais à un sou qui ne lui appartenait pas — la reine lui a proposé de rester comme Juif dans le royaume.
Il a répondu : « Je partirai en exil avec tous mes frères. Tu expulses tout le monde ? Je suis aussi Juif, et je ne resterai pas ici ! »
Depuis l'expulsion des Juifs, l'Espagne est une nation en échec. Elle était à l'époque la puissance dominante dans tous les domaines — grâce aux Juifs qui y vivaient et travaillaient. Une malédiction pèse sur l'Espagne jusqu'à aujourd'hui.
ו. L'Érev Rav — Les Magiciens d'Égypte
Le Zohar enseigne : Quand le peuple d'Israël est sorti d'Égypte, ce n'est pas seulement la sainteté qui est partie — le « noyau » de la klipa (l'impureté) d'Égypte est aussi parti avec eux !
Les 'Hartumim (magiciens) d'Égypte étaient des maîtres absolus de la magie noire. Quand ils ont vu Moché accomplir les plaies, ils n'ont pas pensé que c'était divin — ils ont cru qu'il faisait de la sorcellerie plus puissante qu'eux !
Ils ont suivi Israël pour apprendre les « techniques » de Moché !
C'est l'Érev Rav — les magiciens les plus puissants d'Égypte qui ont rejoint le peuple.
Pharaon s'est retrouvé avec une Égypte vide : pas de flux de sainteté (car Israël était parti), pas de flux d'impureté (car les 'Hartumim étaient partis). L'Égypte était un cadavre mort.
ז. Le Butin de la Mer > Le Butin d'Égypte
« Toré zahav na'assé lakh, im nekoudot hakesef » (Cantique 1:11)
« Toré zahav » = le butin de la mer • « Nekoudot hakesef » = le butin d'Égypte
Nos Sages enseignent que le butin de la Mer Rouge était plus grand que le butin d'Égypte.
Comment cela fonctionne-t-il ?
Dans l'antiquité, les rois apportaient tous leurs trésors à la guerre pour motiver leurs soldats. Celui qui montre de la bravoure reçoit de l'or !
Pharaon avait le trésor de Yossef — tout l'argent que Yossef avait amassé pendant les années de famine. Ce trésor n'avait jamais été touché par les Hébreux en Égypte.
Pharaon a apporté tous ses trésors à la bataille de la Mer Rouge. Quand la mer s'est ouverte puis refermée, tout l'or et l'argent ont flotté vers le côté des Hébreux !
ח. Le Cheval de Pharaon et la Jument Divine
Pharaon avait peur d'entrer dans la mer. Qui voudrait entrer entre des murs d'eau ?
Pirké Rabbi Éliézer : HaKadosh Baroukh Hou s'est révélé sur la mer comme un cavalier chevauchant une jument (סוּסָה — femelle).
Le cheval noir de Pharaon a vu la jument et s'est mis à courir vers elle ! Pharaon criait « Ho ! Ho ! » mais le cheval l'a entraîné dans la mer.
« Dans la marmite où ils ont cuisiné, ils seront cuits ! »
Ils avaient décrété : « Tout garçon nouveau-né sera jeté dans le fleuve. » Hachem les a jetés dans la mer — mesure pour mesure !
ט. Le Mashal des Deux Combattants
Mashal : Deux nations se disputaient un territoire. Elles ont décidé de régler le conflit par un combat singulier : le champion qui gagne remporte le territoire pour sa nation.
Après quatre heures de combat acharné, l'un des combattants a soulevé son adversaire et a couru vers la fosse. Tout le monde criait...
Mais au moment de jeter son adversaire, celui qui était porté a fait une roulade et a poussé l'autre dans la fosse !
La Reine lui a demandé : « Pourquoi m'as-tu fait souffrir ? Pourquoi ne l'as-tu pas jeté dès le début ? »
Il a répondu : « Ce type pesait 700 kilos de muscles ! Tu crois que j'allais le porter sur tout le terrain ? Je l'ai laissé faire le transport, et à la fin — je l'ai jeté ! »
Nimshal : HaKadosh Baroukh Hou a dit : « Je vais laisser Israël prendre l'argent d'Égypte. Les Égyptiens vont faire le "transport" de tous leurs trésors jusqu'à la Mer Rouge. Et là — nous prendrons tout ! »

The Secret of Humility and the Crossing of the Sea
א. The Opening Verse
"And it came to pass, when Pharaoh let the people go, that God did not lead them by the way of the land of the Philistines, although it was near."
Pharaoh went through six stages before agreeing to let the people of Israel go. At first, when Moshe and Aharon came to ask him to free the people, he responded with arrogance: "Who is Hashem that I should listen to His voice?"
ב. The Humility of the Righteous vs the Arrogance of the Wicked
The main characteristic of the wicked is that their mouth is wide open and their heart is swollen with pride. In contrast, the sages of Israel were exemplary in their humility.
Moshe & Aharon: "And we, what are we?" (וְנַחְנוּ מָה)
Avraham Avinu: "And I am but dust and ashes" (וְאָנֹכִי עָפָר וָאֵפֶר)
David HaMelech: "And I am a worm and not a man" (וְאָנֹכִי תוֹלַעַת וְלֹא אִישׁ)

The Principle: HaKadosh Baruch Hu says (Chulin 89a): "What I love about you is that every greatness I give you, you humble yourselves before Me."
ג. David HaMelech: The Humble King
David HaMelech, who was a great conqueror upon whom the Shechina rested, and who is destined to be Mashiach, what did he say about himself?
וְאָנֹכִי תוֹלַעַת וְלֹא אִישׁ חֶרְפַּת אָדָם וּבְזוּי עָם
"And I am a worm and not a man, the shame of men and despised by the people"
He would sit at the feet of his teachers to learn Torah. He, the King of Israel, humbled himself for the words of Torah!
"Whoever humbles himself for the words of Torah, HaKadosh Baruch Hu elevates him."
ד. "Pana Ziva, Pana Hoda, Pana Hadara"
Our Sages teach: "When a tzaddik leaves a city, its radiance departs, its glory departs, its majesty departs."
When Yaakov Avinu left Be'er Sheva, Rashi explains: "Pana ziva, pana hoda, pana hadara" — the radiance, glory, and majesty of the city departed with him.
But here, it's not one tzaddik leaving — it's all of Israel! All the tzaddikim, the Leviim who studied Torah, Moshe Rabbeinu who walked the streets of Alexandria...
When Israel left Egypt, the Egyptians cried: "What have we done in sending Israel away from serving us?" (מַה זֹּאת עָשִׂינוּ כִּי שִׁלַּחְנוּ אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל)
Egypt without Israel was worthless!
ה. The Lesson of Spain — 1492
This is exactly what happened in 1492 with Queen Isabella of Spain.
She received a message from a priest saying she would be cursed if she left Jews in her kingdom. She gave them an ultimatum: convert or leave, abandoning all their possessions.
Don Isaac Abravanel, the finance minister of the King of Portugal, a man of complete integrity who never touched a penny that wasn't his — the Queen offered to let him stay as a Jew in the kingdom.
He replied: "I will go into exile with all my brothers. You're expelling everyone? I am also a Jew, and I will not stay here!"
Since the expulsion of the Jews, Spain has been a failed nation. At that time, it was the dominant power in every field — thanks to the Jews who lived and worked there. A curse rests on Spain to this day.
ו. The Erev Rav — The Magicians of Egypt
The Zohar teaches: When the people of Israel left Egypt, it wasn't just holiness that departed — the "core" of the klipa (impurity) of Egypt also left with them!
The Chartumim (magicians) of Egypt were absolute masters of black magic. When they saw Moshe perform the plagues, they didn't think it was divine — they thought he was doing sorcery more powerful than theirs!
They followed Israel to learn Moshe's "techniques"!
This is the Erev Rav — the most powerful magicians of Egypt who joined the people.
Pharaoh found himself with an empty Egypt: no flow of holiness (because Israel had left), no flow of impurity (because the Chartumim had left). Egypt was a dead corpse.
ז. The Spoils of the Sea > The Spoils of Egypt
"Toré zahav na'aseh lach, im nekudot hakesef" (Song of Songs 1:11)
"Toré zahav" = the spoils of the sea • "Nekudot hakesef" = the spoils of Egypt
Our Sages teach that the spoils of the Red Sea were greater than the spoils of Egypt.
How did this work?
In ancient times, kings would bring all their treasures to war to motivate their soldiers. Whoever shows bravery receives gold!
Pharaoh had the treasury of Yosef — all the silver that Yosef had amassed during the years of famine. This treasury had never been touched by the Hebrews in Egypt.
Pharaoh brought all his treasures to the battle at the Red Sea. When the sea opened and then closed, all the gold and silver floated to the Hebrew side!
ח. Pharaoh's Horse and the Divine Mare
Pharaoh was afraid to enter the sea. Who would want to enter between walls of water?
Pirkei D'Rabbi Eliezer: HaKadosh Baruch Hu revealed Himself over the sea as a rider on a mare (סוּסָה — female).
Pharaoh's black stallion saw the mare and started running toward her! Pharaoh was shouting "Whoa! Whoa!" but the horse dragged him into the sea.
"In the pot where they cooked, they will be cooked!"
They had decreed: "Every newborn boy shall be thrown into the river." Hashem threw them into the sea — measure for measure!
ט. The Parable of the Two Fighters
Mashal: Two nations disputed a territory. They decided to settle the conflict with single combat: the champion who wins takes the territory for his nation.
After four hours of fierce combat, one fighter lifted his opponent and ran toward the pit. Everyone was screaming...
But at the moment of throwing his opponent, the one being carried did a roll and pushed the other one into the pit!
The Queen asked him: "Why did you make me suffer? Why didn't you throw him from the start?"
He answered: "That guy weighed 700 kilos of muscle! You think I was going to carry him across the whole field? I let him do the transport, and at the end — I threw him!"
Nimshal: HaKadosh Baruch Hu said: "I will let Israel take the silver from Egypt. The Egyptians will do the 'transport' of all their treasures to the Red Sea. And there — we'll take everything!"

סוד הענווה וקריעת ים סוף
א. פסוק הפתיחה
פרעה עבר שישה שלבים עד שהסכים לשלח את עם ישראל. בהתחלה, כשמשה ואהרון באו לבקש ממנו לשלח את העם, הוא ענה בגאווה: ״מִי ה׳ אֲשֶׁר אֶשְׁמַע בְּקֹלוֹ?״
ב. ענוותנותם של הצדיקים מול גאוותם של הרשעים
המאפיין הגדול של כל הרשעים — שהפה שלהם על המעלה והלב שלהם רחב עליהם. לעומת זאת, חכמי ישראל היו ענווים מאוד.
משה ואהרון: ״וְנַחְנוּ מָה״
אברהם אבינו: ״וְאָנֹכִי עָפָר וָאֵפֶר״
דוד המלך: ״וְאָנֹכִי תוֹלַעַת וְלֹא אִישׁ״
פרעה: ״מִי ה׳ לֹא יָדַעְתִּי אֶת ה׳״
חירם מלך צור: ״אֶעֱלֶה עַל בָּמֳתֵי עָב אֶדַּמֶּה לְעֶלְיוֹן״
העיקרון: אומר הקב״ה (חולין פ״ט): ״חושקני בכם שכל גדולה שאני נותן לכם אתם ממעטין את עצמכם לפניי.״
ג. דוד המלך: המלך הענו
דוד המלך עליו השלום, שהיה כובש גדול שהקב״ה השרה עליו שכינתו, ושעתיד להיות מלך המשיח — מה אומר על עצמו?
וְאָנֹכִי תוֹלַעַת וְלֹא אִישׁ חֶרְפַּת אָדָם וּבְזוּי עָם
היה יושב לרגלי רבותיו לשמוע דברי תורה. הוא, מלך ישראל, היה משפיל את עצמו על דברי תורה!
״וכל המשפיל עצמו על דברי תורה — הקב״ה מגביה אותו.״
ד. ״פָּנָה זִיוָהּ, פָּנָה הוֹדָהּ, פָּנָה הֲדָרָהּ״
חז״ל אומרים: ״צדיק שיצא מן העיר — פנה זיוה, פנה הודה, פנה הדרה.״
כשיעקב אבינו יצא מבאר שבע, רש״י מפרש: ״פנה זיוה, פנה הודה, פנה הדרה״ — הזיו, ההוד וההדר של העיר יצאו עמו.
אבל כאן, זה לא צדיק אחד שיוצא — זה כל עם ישראל! כל הצדיקים, שבט לוי שישב ולמד, משה רבינו שהיה מהלך ברחובות של קאיר ואלכסנדריה...
כשיצאו עם ישראל ממצרים, המצרים צעקו: ״מַה זֹּאת עָשִׂינוּ כִּי שִׁלַּחְנוּ אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל מֵעָבְדֵנוּ?״
מצרים בלי עם ישראל לא שווה כלום!
ה. הלקח מספרד — 1492
זה בדיוק מה שהיה ב1492 עם איזבלה מלכת ספרד.
היא קיבלה הודעה מהכומר שאמר לה שהיא עומדת להיענש כי היא משאירה יהודים בממלכה שלה. היא נתנה אולטימטום: להתנצר או לצאת ולהשאיר את כל הרכוש.
דון יצחק אברבנאל, שר האוצר של מלך פורטוגל, איש ישר שלא נגע בשקל שלא שלו — המלכה הציעה לו להישאר כיהודי בממלכה.
הוא ענה: ״אני יוצא עם כל האחים שלי לגלות. את מסלקת את כולם? אני גם יהודי, ואני לא אישאר פה!״
מאז שגירשו את היהודים, ספרד היא מדינה נכשלת. באותה תקופה היא הייתה המובילה בכל התחומים — בזכות היהודים. יש קללה על ספרד עד היום.
ו. הערב רב — החרטומים של מצרים
הזוהר מלמד: כשעם ישראל יצא ממצרים, לא רק הקדושה יצאה — גם הגרעין הכי קליפה של מצרים יצא ביחד איתם!
החרטומים של מצרים היו מאסטרים בכישופים. כשהם ראו את משה עושה את המכות, הם לא חשבו שזה אלוקי — הם חשבו שהוא עושה כישופים יותר חזקים מהם!
הם הלכו אחרי ישראל כדי ללמוד את ה״טריקים״ של משה!
זה הערב רב — החרטומים הכי קשים של מצרים שהצטרפו לעם.
פרעה מצא את עצמו עם מצרים ריקה: אין שפע מצד הקדושה (כי עם ישראל יצא), אין שפע מצד הקליפה (כי החרטומים יצאו). מצרים הייתה פגר מת.
ז. ביזת הים > ביזת מצרים
״תּוֹרֵי זָהָב נַעֲשֶׂה לָּךְ עִם נְקֻדּוֹת הַכָּסֶף״ (שיר השירים א:יא)
״תורי זהב״ = ביזת הים • ״נקודות הכסף״ = ביזת מצרים
חז״ל מלמדים שגדולה ביזת הים מביזת מצרים.
איך זה עבד?
בעת העתיקה, מלכים היו מביאים את כל האוצרות למלחמה כדי להמריץ את הלוחמים. מי שמגלה גבורה — מקבל זהב!
לפרעה היה אוצר יוסף — כל הכסף שיוסף אסף בשנות הרעב. את האוצר הזה היהודים במצרים לא נגעו.
פרעה הביא את כל האוצרות שלו למלחמה בים סוף. כשנפתח הים ואז נסגר — כל הזהב והכסף צפו לצד של היהודים!
ח. הסוס של פרעה והסוסה האלוקית
פרעה פחד להיכנס לים. מי ירצה להיכנס בין קירות של מים?
פרקי דרבי אליעזר: הקב״ה התגלה על הים כאביר הרוכב על סוסה (נקבה).
הסוס השחור של פרעה ראה את הסוסה והתחיל לרוץ אליה! פרעה צעק ״הו! הו!״ אבל הסוס משך אותו לתוך הים.
״בקדירה שבישלו — בה יתבשלו!״
הם גזרו: ״כָּל הַבֵּן הַיִּלּוֹד הַיְאֹרָה תַּשְׁלִיכֻהוּ.״ ה׳ זרק אותם לים — מידה כנגד מידה!
ט. משל שני הלוחמים
משל: שתי אומות רבו על טריטוריה. הם החליטו להכריע במאבק יחיד: מי שמנצח — לוקח את השטח לאומה שלו.
אחרי ארבע שעות של קרב עקשני, אחד הלוחמים הרים את יריבו והתחיל לרוץ לעבר הבור. כולם צעקו...
אבל ברגע שבא לזרוק אותו, זה שלמעלה עשה גלגלון ודחף את היריב שלו לבור!
המלכה שאלה אותו: ״למה הורדת לי את הלב? למה לא זרקת אותו מההתחלה?״
הוא ענה: ״הבחור הזה שוקל 700 קילו של שרירים! את חושבת שאני ארים אותו על כל המגרש? נתתי לו לעשות את ההובלה, ובסוף — זרקתי אותו!״
נמשל: אמר הקב״ה: ״אני אתן לעם ישראל לקחת את הכסף ממצרים. המצרים יעשו את ה׳הובלה׳ של כל האוצרות עד ים סוף. ושם — ניקח הכל!״
