The 71 Elements
After the 15 non-metallic elements (the “brain”), the course presents the 71 metallic elements as the load-bearing structure of material creation.
According to the course, they correspond to the Sanhedrin of 71 sages: Moses, seated apart facing the other 70, corresponds to hydrogen, isolated facing the other 70 elements.
The course ties Moses’ 26 (26th link since Adam) to the value of the Divine Name יהוה = 26.
Principle: “As it is in the metaphysical level, so it is on the physical level.” If 71 has a spiritual meaning, it has the same one on the material level.
Reminder of the 86 elements: 15 non-metallic (the brain, negative charge, receptive, feminine nature) + 71 metallic (the structure, positive charge, giving, masculine nature): 15 + 71 = 86.
The Sanhedrin (סנהדרין), the supreme court of the Jewish people, had 71 sages. According to the course, the divine legal system is governed by this court, the load-bearing structure of justice.
Parallel: metaphysical level, a court of 71 sages; physical level, 71 load-bearing (metallic) elements, like the iron that is the structure of every building.
The course quotes our Sages: “There is nothing in this world that does not allude to what exists in the metaphysical world.”
According to the tradition reported by the course, Moses our Teacher sat apart, facing the other 70 sages: 1 + 70 = 71. He was the 26th link of the generations since Adam.
The word אלם (71) represents the 71 elements; according to the course, its א refers to Moses. Spelled out in full, יוד = 10 + 6 + 10 = 26, the value of the Divine Name יהוה.
Moses had a double function: to receive the Torah from the Creator and to give it to the people.
According to the course, hydrogen is the only element among the 71 that is not metallic (though counted among them), has a double charge (sometimes negative, sometimes positive), stands isolated in the periodic table and is the lightest (a single electron).
