Rabbi David Menashe was born in the Suez Canal region in 1945. He immigrated with his family to Italy in 1957, the beginning of a path combining secular and sacred studies.
According to the text, he studied at the Università Sacro Cuore, under the patronage of the Vatican. In that university, Jews were not admitted, by virtue of the statute enacted by its founder, Padre Gemelli, who was one of the signatories of the proclamation of Mussolini’s roundup.
As an Italian citizen paying taxes, every student should be entitled to academic service, the university being subsidized by the State. The request of the student David Menashe made a great stir in the Italian media and he was accepted anyway, on special conditions: to study all the courses of Christian morality and catechism and not to engage in proselytism.
After obtaining his doctorate in economics, he went up to Israel to enter the great yeshivot.
He then began research on the sacred texts and showed, according to the text, that there is no contradiction between the Torah and modern science.
More than thirty years of research produced a series of books revealing to the scientific and academic world the unsuspected dimensions of the Torah.
Rav David Menashe was an international lecturer, in Europe, Canada, Latin America and Africa, with lectures that became cyclical at the public’s request.
He lectured in particular in France, where Chief Rabbi Sitruk and the president of the Central Consistory regularly invited him to expand his courses in their communities.
His teaching continues to illuminate minds through his research on the harmony between the ancestral wisdom of the Torah and modern scientific discoveries. May his memory be an eternal blessing.
