Jonah and Nineveh

Cain and Pharaoh desecrated the letters י-ה (15). How will this desecration be repaired? According to the course: by Jonah in Nineveh.

Moses (משה = 345): saved from the waters of the Nile, did not want his mission, faces Pharaoh, frees Israel from Egypt. Jonah (יונה = 71): saved from the waters by a great fish, did not want his mission, faces the king of Nineveh (identified by the course with Pharaoh), brings Nineveh to teshuvah.

Two prophets saved from the waters, two missions to repair the desecration.

71 represents the 71 metallic elements, the load-bearing structure of creation. Metaphysical level: the 71 sages of the Sanhedrin, the divine legal system. Jonah: one man who carries within him the whole structure of the divine system.

According to the course, the letters י and ה frame the name of Jonah: י at the beginning, ה at the end, נו at the center (יו-נה).

According to the course, נינוה = יונה + נ: the name of Nineveh contains the whole name of Jonah plus the letter נ.

Where does the 50 come from? י (10) × ה (5) = 50 = נ: the nun represents the conjugate ratio of י-ה. The course recalls other meanings of 50: the 50 letters of the Shema (morning and evening), the 50 gates of understanding, the Jubilee after 50 years, the 50 plagues at the Red Sea.

Chain of repair, according to the course: Pharaoh desecrated the ה (5); Pharaoh survives the Red Sea; Pharaoh founds the city of Nineveh; Jonah (71) is sent to repair; Nineveh does complete teshuvah; the letters י-ה are restored.

The Book of Jonah has exactly 48 verses, like the number of prophets of Israel (according to the course).

Jonah (71) comes to repair the material side (ה = 5) desecrated by Pharaoh.

“Just as the 71 metallic elements fertilize the 15 non-metallic elements in physical creation, so Jonah (71) comes to fertilize and repair Nineveh, which contains the nun (50).”
