The Shema and the Two Nuns
The Shema Yisrael is worth 1118; recited twice (morning and evening), 2 × 1118 = 2236.
According to the course, 2236 is also the value of the verse placed between the two inverted nuns (Numbers 10:35-36) and corresponds to √5 = 2.236…, the root of the letter ה that created this world.
The course’s teaching: the natural basis of creation rests on accepting the yoke of the kingdom of heaven, morning and evening.
“Hear, O Israel: the Eternal is our G-d, the Eternal is ONE.” Numerical value of שמע ישראל יהוה אלהינו יהוה אחד: 1118.
The Shema is written in 6 words of 25 letters: 25 × 2 (morning and evening) = 50 letters.
The course states: 50 letters in the morning (recited twice in the prayer), 50 letters in the evening (recited twice: in the prayer and before sleeping); 50 + 50 = 100 letters per day.
The prayer word ואתחנן contains the letters תנן = 400 + 50 + 50. According to the course, the 400 negative forces of the world are neutralized by the two nuns (נ = 50): 50 in the morning and 50 in the evening, i.e. 100 letters to neutralize the 400 forces.
In the Book of Numbers, two inverted nuns serve as brackets around two verses (Numbers 10:35-36): וַיְהִי בִּנְסֹעַ הָאָרֹן… “And when the ark set out, Moses said…”.
According to the course, the value of the verse between the two nuns is 2236, exactly that of the Shema recited twice: 1118 × 2 = 2236.
The world was created with the letter ה = 5; √5 = 2.236… According to the course, this value is found in the Shema recited twice, in the verse between the two nuns, and in the natural basis of the world (√5).
The course’s teaching: the natural basis of this creation rests on man’s acceptance of the yoke of the kingdom of heaven, morning and evening; without this awareness, the world would return to chaos.
Shema × 2 (morning + evening) = 2236; verse between the two nuns = 2236; √5 = 2.236; 50 letters in the morning + 50 in the evening = 100.
“The divine presence is in the Torah to the same extent as it resides in all four upper metaphysical worlds, animated by the four letters of the Tetragrammaton. This is revealed by the value of the Shema recited twice: 2236, exactly the square root of the ה that created this world.” (Rav David Menashe zatsal)
