Life After Death
What we look for without ever having seen it

What does a person look for in life? Love, recognition, joy, honour. None of these can be seen.

So whoever says “what I cannot see does not exist” does not even know what he is looking for.

In 1980 a British medical paper travelled the world: patients revived after cardiac arrest described what they had lived through.

In 1982 the Gallup organisation measured it in the United States: eight million Americans.

1 What we are really looking for

What does a person look for in life? Love, recognition, joy, honour, money.

The Rav’s question: can these things be seen? Have you ever seen love, truth, honour?

No. A man spends his life seeking what he cannot see. Those who say “what I cannot see does not exist” do not even know what they are seeking.
2 The testimonies

In 1980, a medical paper published in Britain travelled the world: patients who had suffered cardiac arrest and were revived described what they had lived through in that interval.

In 1982, the George Gallup organisation measured the phenomenon in the United States. The question: how many people say they have experienced something after death?

The answer: eight million Americans. Extended to the whole world, the Rav put forward the figure of fifty million people.

3 What he drew from it
“There are fifty million people in the world who have lived life after death. All of France. And we are going to say there is no life after death?”

The Rav did not ask anyone to believe a single testimony. He asked what one does with a number of that size.
