The Letter Tet
The hidden good, and what waits to be revealed

The tet came forward because it opens טוֹב (tov), the good — “and G-d saw that the light was good”.

It was answered: your goodness is great, and for that very reason it stays hidden inside words.

Its value is nine: the nine months of gestation, what forms unseen.

The tet carries the light set aside.

1 The Zohar account
“Master of the world, create the world through me, for through me begins tov, the good, as it is written: and G-d saw that the light was good.”

The answer came: you are good, and your goodness is great. But precisely because you carry that good, you remain hidden inside words. Perfect good does not appear at the beginning.

2 The hidden good

Tradition teaches that the light of the first day was set aside. The tet carries that reserve: what is too precious to be shown at once.

A good displayed everywhere loses its force. The one that keeps itself waits for its hour.
3 The value nine

Nine as the months of gestation: the work is done inside, unseen, until it is ready.

Nine, the last of the digits before the return to unity at ten.
