The Letter Zayin
The zayin came forward in the name of זַיִן (zayin), the weapon, and of the strength that protects.
It was answered that a weapon, even defensive, can turn into violence — and a world is not founded on that.
Its shape is a vav crowned: or an overturned crown, glory that falls.
Its value is seven: the seven days, and the seventh that holds them.
The answer came: you carry the weapon, that is true, but a weapon can become violence without cause. The world cannot rest on force.
The zayin resembles a vav wearing a crown — and a crown badly held becomes an overturned crown: glory turning into a fall.
That is the letter’s double nature: it protects and it threatens, according to the hand that holds it.
Seven as the seven days, whose seventh is not one more day but the one that gives the other six their meaning.
