The Secret of the Living

In the beginning, G-d planted two trees in the Garden of Eden: the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil → brings death; the Tree of Life → brings life.

This course reveals the secret the Jewish people has carried for 3000 years: how to choose life in a world of death?

1. The Choice: Who Chooses Death? — “You shall choose life”: why say it? Who would choose death? The answer, according to the course: you, me, all of us.

2. 50 Million Witnesses — The scientific evidence: 50 million people have had a near-death experience. They know. Now you do too.

3. Berakhot 18: The Inversion — The Talmud: “The living know that they die” = the tsadikim. The cemetery is called Beit HaHaim, the House of the Living. Everything is inverted.

4. Vayikra 12: The Tomb — Rashi: the womb = “the tomb.” Birth = tuma (death impurity). You were not born into life, you were born into death.

5. The Two Trees — The Tree of Knowledge → death. The Tree of Life → Torah. Want to live here? You will die there. Know that you die here? You will live there.

6. The Journey: The Paradox ✡ — From receiver to taker: without Torah = destruction. With Torah = the finite world brings infinite pleasure. The secret of the Star of David.

7. The Attachment That Kills — Page 18 (חי) of the Talmud: the living innkeeper asks for her makeup. She will not let go of death. The 903 kinds of death.

8. Letting Go of Death — “What truly belongs to you, no one will take from you.” Turn the page quickly. Stop suffering. The class photo.
